Custom Mudroom Closets
Keeping your home clean starts at the door! Adding a Mudroom will help keep the outside messes contained at the door!
Mudroom: an exterior and interior transitioning room designed to keep a home clean. Typical storage space for shoes and jackets and other required items built into a bench is standard.
Designing a great mudroom comes down to two main things; being able to satisfy your needs and being designed to fit your home.
Mudrooms designed to fit the occupants needs have to solve storage problems and be easy to maintain. The amount of space allocated to shoe storage or number of coat hooks is a good starting place though having shelf space may or may not be necessary. Some people may consider having a mirror as the focal point instead of more traditional designs.
It is fun designing mudrooms to fit homes! Knowing where the typical foot traffic goes through is important as is sizing the proper space for practical seating and storage. Take a look around the internet to find styles that you would like to replicate or we would be happy to help you design one that suits all of your needs.
Rough Process Installation Process:
Start with basic carpentry with 2x4s to level and build up a kickplate area for the cabinets (if being used) to be housed upon.
Build side supports around the cabinets and cover with a nice layer of sanded wood for a bench top, and add trim and spacers as needed on lower layer.
Add desired backrest, caulk all new joints and sand structure smooth.
Prime and paint mudcloset using an enamel grade paint to ensure a hard and long lasting finish that wont scratch under hard use.
Home renovating can seem daunting but we will happily help you through these projects!
